I know of no higher accolade to give someone than to say that that person helped to save my horse's life. Amanda Oliver is one of those people and I will be forever grateful to her. Interestingly, I have never met her and neither has my horse Vashka! And yet her intent to help us changed everything.
It was a Saturday night and Vashka had been colicking for two days. The vet had come and gone, leaving me with the instructions to call him if Vashka did not get better within a day or two. Vashka was up and down a lot and while not as bad as as before the vet appeared, he was in obvious discomfort. In tears, I called Cindy Daigre of Ferrell Hollow Farms in Tennessee. Cindy is a woman I know and trust, a woman with many years of experience with horses. Cindy immediately connected me to Amanda Oliver, animal communicator, energy worker and T-touch practioner.
Amanda Oliver asked my permission to connect with Vashka and then told me quite simply that she would be "tuning in throughout the night."
I had no idea what that meant, nor did I have any expectations of how Oliver could help us. I just knew that as soon as I hung up the phone, I felt incredibly supported and therefore calmer.
At the time I lived in a cottage overlooking Vashka's property and I could see him from my bedroom window. I sat in front of that window and watched my horse grow increasingly relaxed and more eager to nibble on his hay -- something he hadn't wanted to do for two days. Within four to five hours, Vashka seemed pain-free. These results lasted over the next few days.
So it is with great delight that I introduce to you through a Question and Answer interview that I recently conducted, Amanda Oliver, a woman I hope you will reach out to should you or your horse need assistance.
SKODE:
You have a Bachelors of Science in Education and a Master's in Psychology. How does this higher education help you help horse owner's and their horses?
Amanda Oliver:
The training I received with my BS degree honed my teaching skills with people...I just translate that to the animals. My MA in psychology helps with analyzing relationships of animal to animal as well as the person's relationship with her animal -- I am often working with their person as well. This was not my intent when I first started this. However I learn everyday how interconnected our animals are with us -- about how the two are inseparable.
SKODE:
You sometimes mention "releasing blocked energy." What do you mean by this?
Amanda Oliver:
As I run my hands in the energy field of an animal or on his body I can feel heat, cold, tenseness, etc. If the energy is flowing evenly and smoothly throughout the body, the overall temperature will be relatively constant. Exactly how I do that I do not know -- it seems that I am used as a conduit from a higher source. I ask for direction and then allow the energy to lead me.
SKODE:
What are your expectations when you go into session with a client?
AMANDA OLIVER:
I never go into a session with expectations. I go into a session with the intent to assist the animal -- meeting the animal at the place the animal is in. Each session is different and each animal is different.
SKODE:
What do you love best about working with energy and horses?
AMANDA OLIVER:
This question brings tears to my eyes. Horses are such magnificent creatures. It is an honor when one accepts my work and it is a bonus to see them relax and to respond. I really can not say exactly what the energy work is like for me. It just feels a part of me and I feel I am where I am supposed to be, doing what I am supposed to be doing.
